A private college named Comilla College was established in 1962 with the efforts of prominent educationists of the area, especially social worker Advocate Abul Khair, Advocate Sajedul Haque and prominent industrialist Mohammad Nurul Haque. They carry out other administrative duties including motivating the locals, raising students, raising funds, recruiting professors and staff, collecting furniture, arranging space for the college. They were further assisted by Advocate Mr. Harunur Rashid, Advocate Mr. Rezaur Rahman, Industrialist Abdus Samad, Mr. Nasir Uddin Chowdhury, Ed. Mohsinuzzaman, Editor of Amod Patrika Mr. Fazle Rabbi, Dr. Lutfar Rahman and Prof. Abdul Wahab among others. Above all, the then Deputy Commissioner of Comilla Mr. Abdus Salam C, S, PA played a strong role in this regard. In addition to the governing body, there was a separate committee called the Organizing Committee. Prominent personalities of Comilla city contributed to the establishment and management of the college. After independence Mr. Badiul Alam served as the Chairman of the Governing Body. The first appointed professor in this college is Mr. Abdul Wahab. He played an important role in the development of the physical infrastructure of the college including student admission. Mr. Nuru Mia 1st Appointed Peon. They worked hard for the newly formed college. At that time Mr. Md. Delwar Hossain was acting as the chief assistant. He assisted in other administrative work including accounting and typist duties. The faculty and staff have performed their duties in this college. The place where the college was established was a Hindu zamindar's house. The owners of the house are Shri Jatindra Chandra Kar and Rabindra Kar Gang. They had not lived in this house since before the partition of the country in 1947 and moved to India with their families. Until the establishment of this college during the Pakistan period, there were regional EPR camps here.At present the land owned by the college is 2.6 acres. With three tin shed buildings and an old one-storey administrative building, the college started its activities by admitting a total of 531 students in the eleventh science, humanities and commerce department. The college has a residence called Supravhat in Bagichagaon area under Dharmapur mouza for the residence of the principal. Mr. A. served as principal at the time of the founding. K. M Rafiqul Alam. The number of professors in different departments was only 09 and the total number of 3rd and 4th class employees was 09. It is to be noted that some dedicated life teachers of Victoria College have helped to run the college with unpaid classes. Topics were - Bengali, English, History of Islam, Politics, Economics, Logic, Management, Accounting, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics. Later agronomy was introduced. Students are being admitted in Computer Science from 2000-2001 academic year. Mr. Syed Ahmed, Lecturer, Department of Physics has been the first acting teacher in this regard. The students of this college took part in the HSC examination from this college center in 1982. The pass rate was 90.89%. Comilla College is an organization called ""Cadet Organization"" under the able leadership of Prof. Md. Tajul Islam. The late Professor Mr. Md. Tajul Islam gained considerable reputation for the college through inter-sports, outdoor sports, BNCC, scouts etc. Students, teachers, In response to the demands of the employees and the people of the area, the then President Hussain Muhammad Ershad announced to make the college official from Comilla Town Hall Maidan. Mr. Syed Aminur Rahman, the then Deputy Commissioner of Comilla, played an important role in realizing this demand. He was then the chairman of the governing body of the college. In this regard he was assisted by Professor Mr. Mofizul Islam MP and Mr. Ansar Ahmed MP. The late Prof. Abdul Quddus, Prof. Abdul Wahab, Mr. Ali Ahmed, Mr. Mujibur Rahman Bhuiyan, Mr. Banita Mohan Dey and Mr. Md. Rafiqul Islam and other teachers of the college played a pioneering role in carrying out the difficult task of implementing the declaration of government. P and other leaders cooperated.
