Most dollars and cents were on Excel spreadsheets because it is so popular and has been around for as long as Microsoft itself, but Excel has many flaws, most commonly: slow, error-prone, difficult to change, and these issues often cause accountants to spend too much time producing reports and plans than actually analyzing the data.
